Represent – Be Jesus to your world – Part 2
Represent: Be Jesus in Your World
THIS WEEK’S MAIN IDEA
Tame the tongue.
James 3:3 tells us we can control even a large horse by means of a small bit in its mouth. Have you ever gone horseback riding? If so, were you able to get the horse to move in the direction where you wanted it to go? Share with your group if it was it a good, bad or exciting experience.
1. Have you ever said something to someone that you wish you never said? What resulted from it? On the other hand, have you been affected by something carelessly said to you? How did it make you feel?
The tongue is one of the smallest parts of the human body that no man can tame. Believers should never underestimate its potential. Have you experienced the discomfort of a fellow believer sharing confidential information that wasn’t theirs to share? How did you handle the situation?
Whatever is in the heart eventually comes out of the mouth. We need to remember that every spoken word on earth is heard in heaven. The Bible teaches that God will hold us to account for every idle word we speak. Do you have any suggestions that would help us to practice thinking before speaking?
Lucas said when we captivate our thoughts our words will be following Jesus’ thoughts. What does it mean to capture our thoughts and make them obedient to Christ? In what ways can we take our thoughts captive and make them Christ-like?
What is God saying to you from His Word right now? What are you going to do about it?
