Overcome – Part 4 – Anxiety
THIS WEEK’S MAIN IDEA
Anxiety and worry are a part of our everyday life, especially during the pandemic. It is nothing to be embarrassed about. Our mental health care system is designed to help diagnose and treat anxiety disorders, and anyone who thinks they may benefit from those resources are encouraged to do so. For followers of Jesus, there is a level of spiritual care that we can take advantage of as well, that can often help us reduce and lessen the influence of anxiety in our lives. This is not the primary message of the passages we will explore, but one of the positive outcomes they contain. On his journey from itinerant teacher to become a crucified convict, Jesus modelled a pathway to peace that we can follow. While we should never overlook the incredible sacrifice, Jesus made on our behalf, or the amazing offer of forgiveness and new life that He made possible at the cross, we can find steps toward overcoming anxiety in more and more practical ways.

Read John 18:36.
Greg said on Sunday that there is a price to pay for following Christ and fulfilling the will of God in your life. This would seem to be contrary to the thinking of our culture. What do you think about this; are you prepared to endure for the sake of Christ?
