THIS WEEK’S MAIN IDEA:

As followers of Jesus, we need to share the gospel boldly! Sharing the gospel means reaching out to the lost with whom we are in contact, as well as deliberately and persistently making fully engaged followers of Jesus of those who turn to Him. Sharing the gospel results in the lost being saved, and discipling transforms the found. Since we were all once lost, we all still need the gospel daily. However, we can’t do it on our own! We grow through experiences in relationship with other followers of Jesus. To help this happen, join a team and get involved in disciple-making, which includes sharing the gospel. Wherever you are in the journey, you can plan to take a step or help others take a step towards becoming more fully engaged in being God’s ambassadors to our world.

EXPLORE

1. What is the gospel?

a. Read: Acts 17:24-31. Here we see a brief outline of the whole Gospel story – the grand narrative of the Bible – creation, the fall, redemption, restoration, eternity. Which of these stood out most clearly to you? Which has the most impact on how you live?

b. Read: 2 Timothy 2:8, Ephesians 2:8. It’s all about Jesus! How do you see this working in your own life?

c. Read: 1 Timothy 3:14-15; Titus 2:14. Here Paul is mentoring some of the younger pastors he has recruited. He’s talking about how the Church is supposed to work and look. What do we tend to forget that is included here? Which of the characteristics of the Church do we especially need to focus on?

2. How do we share it boldly?

a. Read: Mark 1:14-15. What is the big step we have to take before we can share the gospel with anyone else?

b. Read: Matthew 5:14-16, 1 Peter 2:12. How do we show our world that we are Jesus’s followers and that God is working in us?

c. Read: Romans 10:13-15; 1 Peter 3:13-15; Romans 1:16. God lets us be involved in reaching the world for Him. What is our role? What is our motivation to share the Good News with people where we live, work and play?
