COVID-19 Response

All public gatherings for Brookside are currently cancelled.

As you may be aware, the Ottawa area has entered Phase 2 of re-opening as of today. The provincial government is now allowing church buildings to open for events at up to 30% capacity. However, the guidelines that should be followed to allow such events are quite restrictive.

Brookside continues to look for opportunities to adapt and improve the ways that we can continue to be on mission to help develop fully engaged followers of Christ. Under the current protocols, in-person Sunday services and other such events could be a frustrating experience for those attending, and would be expensive and onerous to execute. They are unlikely to be effective at moving our mission forward. For the time being, the current online experience is likely to be more satisfying and safer for all involved. Therefore, the church building continues to be closed.

We are working on developing opportunities for small scale in-person gatherings now that the group size has been expanded to 10 people. We hope to be able to share some of these possibilities with you soon.

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
– Deuteronomy 31:8

Special letter from the board of Brookside – Apr 1 2020

New ways of living out our mission

Our mission to help develop fully engaged followers of Christ does not change. As a church family we will continue to work hard to find effective and innovative ways to move that mission forward by helping to serve and connect people to Jesus’ love during this time.

This is a time when Brookside can be a unique light in our community.

We are starting to assemble a Brookside Response Team to serve those in isolation. We haven’t got it all figured out yet, but consider signing up for that here.

And if you are self-isolating and need assistance, hop over to our assistance request page to let us know.

Giving online

The costs associated with moving forward on the mission that God has given us don’t change much during this kind of scenario. Brookside will continue to work hard during this time to find ways of connecting people to God, serving those in need, and helping to develop fully engaged followers of Christ.

We ask that you continue to give to that mission.

It’s easy to give online through etransfer. We have laid out the instructions for that here.

Give online

Giving by cheque is also possible if that is an option you need.

Moving forward

This is a fluid and rapidly evolving situation. We will keep you updated as things develop.

But for now, pray for our leaders. Be wise but not fearful. God uses the church as his vehicle to bring the hope of Jesus to the world. This is a unique time in history, and it is a moment in which God’s church has the opportunity to shine and bring a different perspective to our culture. A perspective of faith in Jesus and his power, and the knowledge that God is in control.

Consider being a part of the Brookside Response Team.
